MieBadge WordPress Plugin

MieBadge

I just released MieBadge, my seventh WordPress plugin, and honestly it came out of pure frustration. I kept making changes on staging sites thinking I was on production, or worse, trying untested plugins on the live site. The whole point of this plugin is to make sure that never happens again. It puts this persistent circular badge on your site that you can drag around and position wherever you want, and it stays there reminding you exactly where you are. The name comes from those dramatic frozen poses in Kabuki theater where the actor commands total attention, which felt fitting for something that needs to stop you in your tracks.

What makes it particularly useful is how flexible it is for different situations. If you’re running a staging environment for development work, you can show the badge on both the public side and the WordPress admin so everyone on your team knows they’re not touching production. For client mockups and review sites, you might want it visible on the frontend so clients understand they’re looking at a work in progress, but hide it from the admin area since you know what you’re working on. And if you’re running a satire or parody site, having a clear badge that says exactly that can save you from all kinds of headaches. You can customize it with your own images or text, make it clickable as a link, even add physics so it bounces around when you drag it if that’s your thing. But really, it just does one job: make absolutely certain nobody confuses your staging, mockup, satire or parody site for the real thing.
