ConFab – A Conference Scheduling Plugin for WordPress

Hey everyone, here’s another plugin I’ve been working on called Confab. If you’ve ever tried to manage a conference or event schedule on WordPress, you know it can be a bit of a headache. Confab is designed to make it simple, letting you display and organize schedules without fuss or complicated setups.

Confab started out based on a plugin called WP Conference Schedule, which was created by Road Warrior Creative but was abandoned back in 2016. I really liked what it could do, but continuing to use it as-is felt risky from a security perspective. So I decided to give it a full revamp. Confab keeps the spirit of the original—making conference schedules easy—but the code has been completely rewritten and updated for modern WordPress. It works with both traditional themes and Full Site Editing (FSE) themes, so you don’t have to worry about compatibility.

It’s designed to be straightforward. You can add sessions, speakers, and tracks, and Confab handles the rest, displaying everything cleanly on your site. It’s all done in a way that’s easy to use but still flexible, so whether you’re running a small meetup or a multi-day conference, it adapts to your needs.

The original plugin was great with shortcodes, but ConFab’s block allows full preview of your conference’s schedule in the edit window. There are 26 color themes, three table formats and a grid layout with all the colors of the rainbow, light or dark themes. Multiple tracks and fully mobile ready.

The best part is that it’s lightweight and keeps things simple. There are no unnecessary bells and whistles, no clutter, just a solid way to display your schedule without headaches or security concerns.
