Working with Featured Images in WordPress
If working with featured images or images in general on WordPress has had you at your wit’s end, this is the video for you!
The media interface for images in WordPress could be more intuitive. However, the interface is now stable enough that you can at least produce reasonable scaling and cropping results from within the WordPress media library.
It ends up being a two-step process, first scaling the image, then cropping to fit the featured image requirements for your active theme. Each theme can have different requirements for featured image dimensions, be sure to find out what the requirements are for your WordPress theme’s featured image dimensions.
Also, it’s better to create the featured image first in the media library, then navigate to the page that needs a featured image and add it through the post editing interface.
