Chain Spam Etiquette

Apple PieI recently got an email from my friend warning about pending doom coming from a computer virus. There’s a copy of it in the blockquote below.

Of course it didn’t say NON-APPLE-PIE EATER, but instead something more controversial. The actual content of any chain spam is immaterial. What’s more important to the original poster is the goal of getting as many people to propagate useless information as possible. It was done this time by pairing fear of computer viruses with hate language and a command to disseminate the spam to as many people as possible, even to those who have already received it in an effort to make sure your friends ‘don’t get infected’. Filemaker 11 – The Missing Design Tools

Filemaker 11 logoFilemaker 11 is certainly leaps ahead of previous versions. charts, scripted report creation, quick find, object inspector, object focus scripting, portal filtering and object badges are awesome editions to the pallet of tools available for data developers and designers. There are a lot of excellent reviews out there about what the latest version contains. However, there are a few features that could use some attention. Some features haven’t changed but need to. Some are features that might have made sense to have in the current version, and probably would have been easy to implement, but weren’t. Others are features for the future that would make a truly excellent application even better. I’m categorizing them into three columns: ‘shoulda’, ‘coulda’ and ‘woulda’. Sunday Blueberry Waffles

Blueberry Waffles Topped with Whipped CreamMy wife went with one of her friends to pick blueberries on Saturday. She came home with five delicious pounds. After many agonizing nanoseconds of inner reflection, we came to the grueling decision to have blueberry waffles Sunday morning.

A Google Artistic First?

Google's Logo Transformation for July 24 2010Rarely in the history of Google’s logo alteration is the search engine logo image so removed from its original shape that the word ‘Google’ is not readily apparent in some respect. As attractive as this Mucha tribute is, I have trouble seeing the word ‘Google’ in this adaptation of Alphonse Mucha’s work. Even with the Joseph Frank birthday image I could squint and imagine the word ‘Google’ wrested from the lines in the image. Continue reading “A Google Artistic First?”
